Ballet Slippers - Fine Art Offset Lithograph - by Harvey Edwards

To a dancer, these two abstract sculptures represent wings to fly; a chance to express his/her inner feelings; a time to make movement emotional. The ballet slippers have come to life for many rehearsals.  They have come to represent years of hard work, hours of sweat and a dancer's devotion to ballet.

"As we live in a world where the price of art makes it unattainable for most to acquire, my philosophy is art must be made accessible for all to own. For without art in our lives what is left?" - Harvey Edwards
Harvey Edwards was born in 1947 in New York City and was 5 when his family moved to Massapequa, Long Island New York. He obtained his first camera at age 12 and was instantly fascinated by his ability to stop time forever with the single snap of the shutter.

After high school he enlisted in the Air Force as a photographer, in the middle of the Vietnam War. During that time his father suddenly passed away and Harvey Edwards left the service on a hardship discharge. "In a strange way my father's death gave me life and a future", he comments. Returning home after majoring in Fine Art in college he continued his first love: expressing himself through photographic images.

He worked as an assistant with some of the greatest artists of this century, including Roy Lichtenstein and Jasper Johns. He continues to show his work through museums, galleries, one-man shows and articles. His work is held in major collections such as the Whitney, Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum and Long Beach Museum of Art, to list a few, as well as by many private collectors. He has also produced several books, the latest of which is entitled The Art Of Dance and captures, through images of dancers, the sweat, strain and devotion needed for a life in the world of dance.

Harvey Edwards has been credited for creating the photographic fine art poster in the late 1970s with his classic image "LEG WARMERS", which has sold well over one million copies worldwide. He has also created images for some of the largest companies in the world, including Ford, Ernst and Young, Sony, Hallmark, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Ballet and Harley Davidson to name just a few. His work has appeared in several hundred movies, music videos, commercials, television shows and print advertisements around the world.

DANCE by David Lance Goines - ART LITHO

TOO LATE! Y'all missed out on an excellent buy.
Being donated to the
School of Theatre and Dance - University of South Florida

You, at one time in the past, could have had a $650 print for a fraction of it's cost.

*This poster also has a dedication signature*

If only we could dance away the night. If only morning never came, and we could dance under the stars in each other's arms forever and ever and ever. Dance in a dream of love, soft sighs and whispered promises I'll love you forever I'll always love you and morning will never come. Under the night, love is a black jacquard on black silk. Come sleep in my arms and we will never awaken, and I'll love you forever. Here comes the Sun.
